Teaching

Walk into the temple of truth

The names of our 24/7 watch — our twenty-four courses — begin here.
This was shown to me on July 24, 2020, in a fast.

In his old age, David did one thing. He fought no more wars, wrote no more psalms, never built the temple he had longed for all his life. What he did was smaller than any of these — he divided the priests into twenty-four courses.

First Chronicles 24: twenty-four names, twenty-four lots, from Jehoiarib to Maaziah. Twelve verses, and it is done. No reason for the order, not one note of theology. Set, cast, sealed.

But David was a prophet.

In Acts 2, Peter stood and said, “David was a prophet.” What a prophet sees, his own age may not see; what a prophet does shows its weight only later.

These twenty-four names he left — as a prophet — for those who would come after.

The Great Commission

Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations … teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18–20

Teaching is the heart of the Great Commission — the working of the four living creatures’ four ministries all returns to teaching.

Apostle establishing authority · foundation Evangelist bringing people in Pastor-Teacher shepherding · building Prophet revelation · in season

Teaching passed on · four generations (2 Tim 2:2)

Paul → Timothy → faithful ones able to teach → others

“What you have heard from me before many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

The Posture of Ministry

You are given the Spirit to be used by God

See the gifts as tools to be used by God — the four-fold ministry is not a hierarchy that lords it over the church, but vessels turned the other way up: to uphold, serve and perfect the saints, so that the sons of God may be revealed.
